The Hathorn Family

I met up with the Hathornes in Kamakura this Saturday. Beautiful time to go because the Cherry blossoms are in full bloom, but HOLY COW there were a TON of people! It was great though because they really wanted the full Japan effect, and that's what they got, crowd an all :) The boys are a bundle of energy and a bit of a challenge, but we all had a good time.




I love the shot below, the boys really enjoyed playing in the rocks and they just look like little creatures, I love it!

I like the shot below cause it is just perfect for their family. Playful and fun, no one paying attention to me, just the way I like it :)

Ayumi and Jon

Well, for those of you who didn't already figure it out, that last post was my April Fool's joke :) I am actually surprised that I got so many people. Kristan was right though, I took that pic a few months ago after eating too much at our favorite Indian food restaurant. Way to go Kristan!

Anywho... on to other things. I had a shoot on Wednesday with Ayumi and John... absolutely cute couple. Very easy to photograph, and clearly enamored with each other. It was a bit cloudy, but we were lucky that it did not rain and we were able to squeeze in the shoot before John leaves town. I love working with military families cause there is always some kind of schedule emergency that we are dealing with... it can be difficult, but it is also nice because it kind of makes things more of a now or never deal. Do it or don't. Cut and dry. All or nothin'. I like that. That's how it was with them, but actually thinking about it... working with military schedules is not exactly that every time.. but I can dream right?

Ugh.

People... I just have no words.

Ortiz Family

Meet the Ortiz family. Max is our other baby that got the "Cute Chubby Cheeks" Award. Seriously, how stinkin' cute are those chubby cheeks! And such a happy baby! It really makes my day when I am able to actually make the baby smile. Most of the time I need one of the parents over my shoulder doing their thing to get the great smiles... but somehow I worked it out with Max :) I love the shot below... such a great path with the blossoms overhead. And yes, we totally lucked out on getting the right timing for blossoms! Yay! Sherry you guys were a great way to end the day! Thanks for coming out!

The Sams

Look at the Blooming mama under the Blooming Blossoms! Ha! Oh yes, I said that to her too :) Andi wins the award for the "Strongest Baby Powers". Seriously, this crazy mama is clearly ready to burst and has been on bed rest for about 3 weeks (she was released just this last week), and not only did she make her way all the way to Mikasa without going into labor, but she was swinging Isaiah down the stairs with Chris! Crazy girl! I had the camera ready just in case she went into labor right then... She has some serious baby mama powers! Isaiah was definitely more interested in playing than getting pictures, but I was able to catch this one below as he ran away :)

MacMillan Family

Meet Isabella and her parents Jonathan and Sara. I think they win the "Most Beautiful Family" Award. Don't get me wrong, I think all these families are beautiful and as I have said before I love to be able to capture the love in all of them, but there is just something about this family that I find extra beautiful.

Sara you are gorgeous.



Look at how happy Isa is! Isn't it obvious that momma is over my shoulder getting that awesome smile? I clearly was not able to get that face out of her... :)

Jim and Martha Bowden

Meet Jim and Martha... They definitely win the award for the "Strongest Flame" (and oldest!). They have been married 35 years (I think...) and it is clear that they still have quite the fire still burning for each other. SO awesome! It is possible people, and Jim and Martha are proof, that a marriage does not need to burn out after years and years (or five kids!). One of my favorite things about photographing couples and families is seeing the love and happiness bursting out. Definitely an awesome thing to photograph all day and I have to say that Jim and Martha's was the most bursting... if that makes sense (and it totally does!).

Jim was totally putting on the moves... I would tell Martha where to stand and Jim was waiting behind me always ready to jump in and as I started to explain where I wanted him, he would say, "Oh I got it..." as he swooped in to steal his lovely bride. No instruction necessary.
